Grupo Carrefour Brasil is strongly committed to fighting to combat structural racism in the country and promoting affirmative actions for the social and economic inclusion of black men and women in society. In order to fulfill this commitment, the company announces the creation of a fund that will initially have an investment of BRL$25 million. The amount is additional to the donation announced by the company, which will also donate the entire profit of sales made in all the chain's hypermarkets in the country on November 20th.
“We know that we cannot repair the loss of Mr. João Alberto's life. This movement is the company's first step so that the fight against structural prejudice and racism, which is urgent in Brazil, gains even more strength and support from society. We believe that we can evolve and contribute to building a more inclusive and egalitarian society”, states Noël Prioux, CEO of Grupo Carrefour Brasil.
In recent days, the company has been meeting with entities representing the cause and with specialists who work on this front, aiming to understand and learn about how to act in a concrete way in the fight against any type of discrimination, which also includes other minorities.
Based on these claims, the company will announce on Wednesday, November 25th, the commitments and the action plan, which will guide this special fund. The initiatives will comprise internal actions and external projects, aiming to promote campaigns that involve its thousands of team members and also the external public.
