To fulfill the public commitments assumed, Carrefour Brasil established an Anti-racist Fund, in the amount of BRL$115 million, valid for 3 years. The total amount, agreed with the Public Ministry through TAC (Conduct Adjustment Term), considers the initial contribution of BRL$ 25 million and also the profit of sales made on November 20th, 26th and 27th of 2020.
This Fund will be destined for internal actions to combat racial discrimination and promote equity, actions to mobilize the network of suppliers/partners and actions with impact on society, primarily on topics related to employability, education and entrepreneurship of black people.
Most of the investment will go to formal education and professional qualification scholarships, entrepreneurship of black people and socio-cultural projects, in addition to educational campaigns.
On the night of November 19, 2020, João Alberto Silveira Freitas was killed on the premises of our store in Passo D'Areia, in Porto Alegre/RS, in an act that does not represent and is not consistent with Carrefour's values.
On this website, we reinforce the actions we are taking in view of this fact and the commitments made to society and to our body of more than 100,000 employees throughout Brazil. With the objective of continuing to evolve as a company and contributing to the fight against structural racism in Brazil.
